    Responsibilities

    The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) in VA Community of Care (VACC) works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery system model. The AMSA coordinates with other team members to review utilization and timelines by using various reports. They develop/maintain effective and efficient communications with the patient, team members, external agencies and physicians. They will monitor and set guidelines and suspense's designed to facilitate the effective treatment of Veterans seeking healthcare.
    As an Advanced Medical Support Assistant, in VA Community Care, you will be assigned to Nursing Service, Your duties will include:

    • Maintain portal scheduling and VACC scheduling through VISTA and other scheduling processes as required. Schedule or obtaining appointment dates from TriWest and loading appointments into VISTA to associate them with the consults in CPRS.
    • Read and amend notifications and appointment in the TriWest Portal within established timeframes.
    • Assemble Veteran charts and verifies eligibility for treatment and care.
    • Uploads new Veterans into the TriWest Portal. Amend uploaded records and evaluate accuracy of upload requirements.
    • Review Veteran information to issue authorizations for care.
    • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate, set priorities and organize workload in order to meet deadlines, ensuring compliance with established processes, polices and regulations.
    • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, both in oral and in writing, in order to meet VACC objectives. This may include preparing reports in various formats and presenting data.
    • Independently utilizes reference sources, decision making, and empowerment to collaborate and resolve isues within a complex system environment.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm
