This position is located in the Chief of Staff Office, Boise VA Medical Center, Boise, ID and is responsible for all clinical and administrative aspects of Behavioral Health Services, which consists of Psychiatry Service (including Behavioral Health APRNs, RNs and LPNs), Psychology Service and Social Work Service. There are roughly 105.85 FTEE in Behavioral Health Services. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Service, at the main campus, 2 CBOCS, 3 Outreach Clinics and other community locations where Behavioral Health space is leased.
  • Primary Responsibility for mental health strategic planning, assuring Boise VA initiatives are in consistent with upper leave initiatives.
  • Anticipates national trends in the mental health care of our Veterans and establishes processes and systems to get out in front of those trends.
  • Responsible for all Behavioral Health clinical operations, including, program development, program outcomes, maintaining the fidelity of evidence-based psychotherapeutic care, etc.
  • Participation in regular meetings of the clinical executive board, professional standards board, together with other committees and boards as deemed medically appropriate, by the Chief of Staff.
  • Credentialing and privileging, monitoring and evaluation requirements, clinical review process, peer reviews, management reviews and reports, and other assignments as directed by the Chief of Staff.
  • Recruiting new Medical Service clinicians.
  • Establishing good working relationships with other clinical and administrative leaders within the medical center including service and section chiefs.  Establishes service line agreements as applicable. 
  • Supervision of three Chief of Service's (Psychiatry, Psychology, and Social Work) and an Administrative Officer along with oversight of other professional staff in the Behavioral Health Service and ensure that they are performing to the highest standards of clinical care, time efficiency and professional and ethical behavior.   

Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
