As a VA Physician, your opportunities are endless. With many openings in the multiple functions of VA, you will have a wide range of opportunities at your fingertips. Not only is it the largest, most technologically advanced integrated health care system in the nation, but we also provide many other services to Veterans through the Benefits Administration and National Cemeteries.

VA is committed to an ethical culture.  All employees are expected not only to abide by all government ethics laws, but also to avoid any actions that raise even the appearance of impropriety.  If selected for this position, the employee will be required to submit a financial disclosure report.

VAIHCS provides primary care and secondary inpatient services to Veterans residing in central Illinois and west central Indiana.  Inpatient services are available in acute Internal Medicine and Psychiatry.  Community Living Centers provide a skilled care environment with special focus on rehabilitation; dementia and Alzheimer's care; mental health recovery care; palliative care; and extended care.  A full range of ambulatory care services is offered including primary care, ambulatory surgery, mental health, substance abuse, and specialty care.  The parent facility is located in Danville, Illinois and its five Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in Peoria, Decatur, Springfield and Mattoon, IL and West Lafayette, IN serve a population of approximately 130,976 Veterans.

VAIHCS has been the leader for VA to adopt the Green House ® Project model. This concept provides a full range of personal care and clinical services that gives priority to the Veteran's quality of life, providing an atmosphere of security, privacy, dignity and companionship in a real home setting. A dedication ceremony was held in 2011 for two homes that will provide a new and innovative approach for Veterans needing a skilled care setting, changing the design of the traditional institutional nursing home setting into a home environment. An additional $9M construction project has been awarded to add two more homes. VAIHCS plan is for 6 homes accommodating 60 Veterans and a community center.
