    The Iowa City Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System (ICVAHCS) is currently seeking applications for one (1) full-time, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (Mental Health) . ICVAHCS is located within the Veterans Integrated Service Network 23 (VISN 23).

    The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (Mental Health) works assures the safe, appropriate, cost effective use of drugs in psychiatric patients through the application of specialized knowledge and the use of judgment in the collection and interpretation of data specific to each patient and in tactful interactions with other health care professionals. The incumbent will provide accurate and relevant drug information and literature analysis to health care professionals, and acts as a therapeutic consultant on matters of a high degree of complexity. The incumbent shares responsibility of Medication Use Evaluation with appropriate health care providers and actively participates in the quality assurance programs. The functions of the position center around six critical areas which include:

    • clinical
    • drug information and therapeutic consultant
    • medication use evaluation
    • teaching and research
    • adverse drug reactions
    • security
    Work Schedule: 08:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
