    Summary

    This position is being filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority for Shortage Category and/or Critical Need Health Care Occupations.

    About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Behavioral Health, Outpatient Psychiatry Service at Martin Army Community Hospital, Fort Benning, GA.
    Fort Benning is located in the "Tri-Community" comprised of Columbus, GA; Ft. Benning, GA; and Phenix City, AL. Columbus (Georgia's third-largest city) is home to the 15-mile trail known as the Chattahoochee RiverWalk. The RiverWalk provides an excellent facility to bike, in-line skate, jog, or just take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the scenery. Columbus offers a variety of attractions such as the State Theatre of Georgia, the historic Springer Opera House; the National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus; the National Infantry Museum, which displays a large collection of military art and artifacts; the Columbus Museum, one of the largest state-of-the-art facilities in the Southeast; and the beautiful Historic District - circa 1850-1870.     Responsibilities

    As a Clinical Psychologist, you will:

    • Provide individual and group therapy, using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and client-centered therapy.
    • Assess acute mental health conditions in beneficiaries who present with such issues.
    • Screen and interview patients, perform bio-psychological social evaluations using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling.
    • Evaluate overall effectiveness of therapeutic effort and institute changes to increase effectiveness of therapeutic efforts.
