    Responsibilities

    The incumbent will serve as staff DRT working in Radiology Service with the VA Salt Lake City Medical Center and the duties include but, are not limited to:

    • He or she will independently performs routine and fluoroscopic procedures, including a variety of difficult radiographic examinations. Receives patients, explains the method of the procedure, positions patients, selects and sets technical factors, adjusts accessory equipment, and makes necessary exposures for the requested examinations.
    • The objective of the examinations and procedures is to produce radiographic studies that are used in medical diagnosis and interpreted by medical officers to locate injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions, or lesions within the body.
    • The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the radiographic room is set up properly.
    • Assures that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters or other equipment required are present and laid out.
    • Prepares and administers contrast media and medications in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
    • Performs all routine diagnostic radiographic examinations including portable and operating room procedures.
    • Extracts patient data from hospital information system, and maintains records of patients examined, examinations performed, views taken, and the technical factors used.
    • The technologist requires knowledge of image acquisition in computerized radiography (CR), digital radiography (DR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
    • Keeps work area clean and orderly, stocks room supplies and exhibits a professional manner in dress and work habits. Maintains current knowledge of new developments in the field of allied health sciences as related to Radiologic Technology and maintains current AART registration. Assists in the clinical and didactic training of x-ray students.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Work Schedule: Rotating Shifts, rotating weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
