    The VAMC in Memphis, TN consists of one main campus located at 1030 Jefferson Avenue, which includes a 60-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit, and nine community based outpatient clinics (CBOC). It is a tertiary care facility classified as a Clinical Referral Level I Facility and one of the most complex medical centers in the VA system. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in areas of medicine, general cardiovascular and neurological surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, dentistry, and geriatrics. Specialized outpatient services are provided through general, specialty, and subspecialty outpatient clinics including a women's health center. Services are available to more than 206,000 Veterans living in a 53-county tri-state area (Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi).

    Responsibilities


    This position is located in Nutrition and Food Service at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. As a Food Service Worker Supervisor, you will perform duties that require proficiency in special procedures and a broad knowledge of service operations.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    * Responsible for supervising and providing direction to all food service workers in the unit.
    * Reviews and coordinates rotating schedules for all food service employees (Doschedules annual leave, and makes adjustments in the schedule to cover for emergency annual leave, sick leave, etc)
    * Ensures that new employee orientation is provided to food service workers within 30 days of employee EOD date.
    * Ensures employees practice HACCP, ServSafe and handwashing practices thru instructions and visual observations.
    * Directly responsible for ensuring all HACCP monitors are recorded daily or as frequently as required by HACCP program.
    * Participates in performance improvement activities (collecting or assigning data collection for plate waste studies, tray ticket reviews, tray audits, patient satisfaction, etc).
    * Complies with safety/fire practices and inspects area for physical hazards/unsafe conditions and takes corrective actions immediately).
    * Conducts all assigned classes per the department's annual training plan.
    * Completes weekly safety and sanitation inspections; assigning and following up on needed corrective actions.

    Work schedule: Full-time position shift rotating (6:00am-2:30pm), (8:00am-4:30pm), and (11:30am-8:00pm), with rotating days off, working weekends and holidays
