VA Connecticut Healthcare System was officially formed in 1995. We serve veterans in Connecticut and southern New England. The West Haven facility is a tertiary care facility classified as a Clinical Referral Level I Facility. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology and a renowned research program. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary, acute, tertiary and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics and extended care. Newington is an ambulatory care center that provides primary and specialty care. In addition to our main campuses, we operate six community-based primary care centers throughout the state.

VA Connecticut is seeking a full-time Health System Specialist for our Newington campus.  The position will be located in our Primary Care Department.  Duties include but are not limited to:

·   Independently coordinates and tracks information relating to the maintenance of all clinic areas

·   Serves as the primary point of contact for administrative matters such as workplace environment, support staff adjustments and scheduling information

·   Collects utilization data, assuring that all workload data is captured and appropriately validated

·   Investigates patient complaints and incidents, responds and documents outcome

·   Maintains timecards for clinic personnel, ensures that exceptions are resolved and assists with weekly audits of personnel

·   Acts as a resource for and provides administrative guidance and support to the Primary Care clinics within VACT as needed or upon request on clinic set up, process and functions

·   Registers new patients referred via interfacility consults into our system including updating insurance data, eligibility, patient demographics and consult referral as appropriate

·   Manages new patient consults per scheduling policy

·   Serves as the ADPAC, ensuring that there is reliable and timely access to all clinical and non-clinical information necessary for the provisions of high quality care

·   Monitors panel sizes, wait times and other data pertinent to the functioning of the firms

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday/ 8am- 4:30pm
