The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center is a two-division Medical Center that provides tertiary care in medicine, surgery, neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation medicine, and spinal cord injury. The Medical Center is affiliated with the Augusta University, Augusta, GA and as such integrates teaching, research, and advanced patient care, making it an attractive academic medical center. This facility offers a full spectrum of comprehensive health care services, using state-of-the-art technology and innovative programs, as well as education and research benefits.

 This position is open continuous, applications will be reviewed and referred every two weeks.

Current permanent Title 5 and Veterans Canteen Service (employees on a permanent appointment totaling 90 days or more) employees of the Charlie Norwood VAMC will receive first consideration when filling vacancies.
Title 38 and Hybrid Title 38 employees appointed under an Excepted Appointment (appointed without time limit and must have at least one (1) year of continuous service) may apply for this vacancy in accordance with the VA and OPM Interchange Agreement, reference VA Handbook 5005, Part III, Appendix C. 


Work Schedule: Various Tours - Full-time Hours; includes weekends (Saturdays and Sundays)
Location of position:  Uptown/Downtown, Environmental Management Service

Position Description Title/PD#:  14067A and 14068A

  • Performs routine housekeeping duties in patient areas, administrative areas, and public areas.
  • Removes trash and soiled linen, dust mops, damp and wet mops floors, clean toilets and rest rooms, bath and shower rooms, patient rooms, day rooms, utility rooms and administrative offices.
  • Washes walls, windows, window screens, elevators, stairwells, vents, fans, etc.
  • Operates and works safely with electric and battery powered equipment such as floor polishing and scrubbing machines, vacuums and scrubbing machines.
  • Performs other tasks related to housekeeping as assigned.
  • Work involves standing, bending, stooping, lifting and climbing.
  • Frequently lifts or moves objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects over 50 pounds.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
