    Responsibilities

    The selected incumbent will work will serve as a member of the Readjustment Counseling Service and work at the Harris County  Vet Center Location. The incumbent maintains responsibility for coordinating and providing family counseling services in the Vet Center; conducts assessments interviews; develops treatment plans and provides treatment to eligible veterans and their families; refers clients to other programs and professionals to include the VA Medical Center or Outpatient Clinics; participates in and provides consultation to other team members; participates in conjoint emergency treatment with medical facility mental health professionals; interviews veterans and their significant others to determine specific problems; conducts needs assessments of veterans and their significant others and establishes helping relationships with their clients; identifies symptoms leading to clinical diagnosis of disorders; maintains responsibility for developing comprehensive and unique goal-directed treatment plans that reflect a course of therapeutic intervention to address the needs identified in the assessment; provides clinical counseling to veterans and significant others with highly complex and diversified psychological/sociological problems to include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); presents educational programs about combat veterans, the Department of Veterans Affairs and Readjustment Counseling Service; provides crisis intervention, stabilization and follow-up for veterans and significant others; provides follow-up evaluations to determine whether veterans have received all appropriate services and provides additional services or referrals as required; provides vocational, educational, benefits, and related counseling, guidance, and referral to veterans and their significant others; maintains knowledge of veterans' rights, benefits, and programs; performs all other duties as assigned.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Incumbent may be required to work weekends, evenings or other irregular tours of duty)

    Occasional travel - Occasional travel required to attend training, outreach events, and as necessary to meet mission requirements.
