    The LPN - Telehealth Clinical Technician (LPN/TCT) serves in a generalist role to support Telehealth clinical programs from the patient and provider location as the site Tele-Presenter for clinical video telehealth and Imager for telehealth store and forward applications, clinic manager for real time telehealth events, including patient education activities, provision of equipment for the HT program, technical and scheduling activities, and other program support duties, as assigned. 

    The LPN/TCT possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to:

    -Initiate and process Telehealth consults and encounters as appropriate.

    -Collects information prior to visit (blood pressure, temperature, patient information) determined by what 

    clinic the patient is in, what the patient states their need is and what the Physician has asked the technician 

    to do.

    -Utilizes various resources to identify eligible and appropriate patients for telehealth procedures such as

    Teleretinal Images.

    -Discusses difficult/complex telehealth concerns with  medical providers, case managers and social workers to include when requests are made for telehealth assistance.

    -Maintain confidentiality of patient / employee information electronically, verbally, and written.

    -Work with staff from other locations to facilitate an effective, productive and safe visit for patient and staff.

    -Responsible for the patient site clinical, business, scheduling and technical aspects for real-time telehealth applications, including all telehealth encounters.

    -Maintains daily telehealth schedule to assist in scheduling rooms, patients, technology and Tele-presenters.

    -Orients the patient to telehealth visit.

    -Assists at site in coordination of patient visits and assists the medical professional in the exam, treatment and conference with patient (family member or caregiver) about care.

    -Incumbent performs telehealth imaging, including tele-retinal screening, tele-dermatology, tele-wound care imaging and other telehealth programming as technology becomes available, as identified and referred by the primary care provider, other providers, and the imager.

    -Obtains images using approved telehealth imaging devices, placing the images in the patient's electronic medical record following local and VISN policies.

    -Generate consults as directed and appropriately makes appointments for patients.

    -Performs other nursing intervention procedures according to policy such as ear irrigations, diabetic foot exams, minor wound and skin care etc.

    -Collects, labels and sends specimens (blood, sputum, urine, feces etc.) according to hospital policy and procedure as assigned.

    -Provide administrative and clerical support for telehealth programs.

    -Follow facility and VISN policies and procedures.

    -Provide culturally competent care to a diverse patient population.

    -Practice requirements include BLS and ACLS is preferred.

    This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital and is an essential function of the position.  Some positions require rotation of tours or indefinite work on non-administrative tours as established by the immediate supervisor. 

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm

    Travel: Some travel may be required.
    Position Locations: Behavioral Health, Linwood Campus, and Johnson County CBOC
