    Responsibilities

    The Systems Redesign Coordinator contributes to the VHA health care system’s mission and vision by planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining the principles of Advanced Clinic Access (ACA) throughout the Kansas City VA Health Care system. The ACA principles incorporate variations of the health care system and an understanding of the dynamics of the outpatient medical practice. The incumbent integrates the ACA principles with best practice concepts in the KCVA outpatient practice by utilizing tools to educate and measure growth. The incumbent promotes Flow Improvement Initiative (FIX) concepts on inpatient flow as well as systems redesign of business/administrative processes. The incumbent promotes organizational stewardship through the coordination of ACA education initiatives and the development and deployment of effective internal controls.

    This position is not a management position, but rather a coordinator and consultant to others at the facility to identify and implement system redesign methods and activities to identify system deficiencies and achieve organizational goals. This position performs these functions by the following responsibilities:

    • serving as a liaison between management and front line employees to achieve clinic access;
    • analyzes impacts of ACA developments to ensure no adverse effects occur;
    • understanding of interrelationships of teams and provide opportunities to increase outpatient practice and involvement;
    • prepares and submits suspense reports regarding current projects to VISN and national levels;
    • analyzes data from a variety of sources to identify opportunities for implementation of access changes and adherence to ACA principles;
    • coordinates all training opportunities for VISN initiatives, Systems Redesign teleconferences, and other learning opportunities;
    • develop system redesign initiatives in administrative services to meet performance measures;
    • attends meetings and conference calls and updates facility stakeholders for implementation and evaluation of ACA issues;
    • initiates and develops policies and procedures without guidelines for local compliance with VISN and VACO policies and procedures;
    • develops subcommittees and workgroups as needed;
    • and works with FIX subcommittees for facility development and implementation of inpatient flow.
