    VA Connecticut Healthcare System was officially formed in 1995. We serve veterans in Connecticut and southern New England. The West Haven facility is a tertiary care facility classified as a Clinical Referral Level I Facility. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology and a renowned research program. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary, acute, tertiary and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics and extended care. Newington is an ambulatory care center that provides primary and specialty care. In addition to our main campuses, we operate six community-based primary care centers throughout the state.

    Echocardiography technician assignment at the GS-8 level is responsible for performing echocardiography exams which range from the routine to the complex in all full echocardiography modalities (as described below).  This position is located in the Medicine Service/Cardiology Section at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System.

    Duties also include varied administrative, staff development and supervisory functions, which may require problem solving, communication and writing skills, as well as knowledge of regulatory and industry compliance and accreditation issues.

    A technician must have at least, a minimum of four (4) years experience as a full-time echocardiographer demonstrating advanced knowledge, skill and abilities for all modalities of echocardiography scanning and information analysis is required.

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm

    Occasional travel - Occasional travel to Newington campus may be required for coverage.
