Functional Statement Title/#:Medical Instrument Technician (EKG)/F00514/F00516 and Medical Instrument Technician (EKG) Trainee/F00161/F00513
Major Duties include the following:
standard EKGs and stress tests on hospitalized critically ill inpatients and outpatients. Must be skilled and knowledgeable in using techniques unique to each situation in order to obtain quality tracings.
· Prepares patients for recording 24-hour holter tracings as well as event monitors and performing cardiac stress tests and SAECGs after cross training as required from time to time.
· Apply GE Seer light holter recorders, or similar holter systems as well as Instromedix type event recorder or similar event recorders to patients using correct electrode positions for obtaining smooth continuous heart recording.
· Performs cardiac and nuclear cardiac stress test.
· Operate and monitor Electrocardiographic equipment to perform specialized examinations and studies involving exercise stress testing, ambulatory monitoring of arrhythmias, and indirect carotid pulse tracings on chronic patients.
