    The VAMC in Memphis, TN consists of one main campus located at 1030 Jefferson Avenue, which includes a 60-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit, and nine community based outpatient clinics (CBOC). It is a tertiary care facility classified as a Clinical Referral Level I Facility and one of the most complex medical centers in the VA system. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs. Comprehensive primary, secondary, and tertiary health care is provided in areas of medicine, general cardiovascular and neurological surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, neurology, oncology, dentistry, and geriatrics. Specialized outpatient services are provided through general, specialty, and subspecialty outpatient clinics including a women's health center.     Responsibilities

    This position is located in the Radiology Service at the Memphis VA Medical Center. Performs studies of the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, abdominal aorta, using real time techniques to evaluate the structures for size, abnormal contour, cysts and various pathologic disorders. Must independently perform abdominal, visceral and peripheral ultrasound scans, peripheral and deep; scrotal and thyroid ultrasound scans using 2D, continuous wave doppler imaging, and blood flow analysis. It is essential that these scans be of the highest diagnostic quality for the anatomical part or blood vessel being imaged, for the use and interpretation by the radiology medical staff. These scans are produced with the knowledge and ability to use the symmetrical phased array, linear array and convex linear array technology transducers. Performs studies of the kidneys, adrenal glands, nodes and urinary bladder using real time Gray scale techniques to perform examinations for detection of renal cysts and tumors, adrenal masses, lymph node enlargement, retro peritoneal hematomas, abscesses and abnormalities of the urinary bladder. Performs transvaginal and breast scans to evaluate structures for abnormal contour, cysts and various pathological disorders. Assists with biopsies and other invasive procedures as required by the radiologist. Independently performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations and is responsible for following established standard ultrasound examination routines. Confers with radiology medical staff to establish nonstandard examinations to determine technical factors, positioning level of ultrasonic images, etc. to satisfy requirements in non-standard examinations.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (11:00am - 7:30pm or 7:30am - 4:00pm). Tours will vary, may be required to work some Saturdays. On- call duties required.
