    Responsibilities

    The incumbent serves as the Chief Psychiatrist at a Federal Medical Center (FMC) or a designated Long-Term Care Facility for the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the delivery of professional mental health care services for federal prisoners and consultative services via BOP telehealth network to assigned facilities. These goals are achieved through the application of specialized psychiatric knowledge and understanding of human behavior, and through the application of psychiatric skills in effecting improvements in interpersonal relations and behavioral control.

    Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.

    Occasional travel - Travel may be required for work related issues.
