ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION:  Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Northern Plains Region, Bemidji Area, Red Lake Hospital, Behavioral Health Department, Red Lake, MN. The psychiatrist has the primary responsibility for providing clinical psychiatric services to Red Lake Service Unit outpatient and inpatient programs and developing and maintaining, cooperative and coordinated clinical program efforts.

DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY JOB OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT: These positions are eligible to be filled through Office of Personnel Management's delegated Direct Hire Authority [DHA]. The Direct Hire Authority has been authorized by the Homeland Security Act of 2002 and Part 337, Subpart B, Title 5 of the Code of Federal Regulations [5 CFR]. If filled utilizing DHA, the following is applicable: all applicants who meet the basic qualification requirements will be forwarded to the Selecting Official for consideration. The "rule of three," Veteran's preference and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do not apply to the Direct Hire process. Indian Preference does apply.

Duties

  • Performs as a member and clinical coordinator of an interdisciplinary behavioral health patient care team, provides highly skilled psychiatric diagnosis and treatment services.
  • Provides wide range of evaluation and clinical services.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation, in coordination with the Behavioral Health Department Director, of clinical treatment protocols, policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Provides behavioral health consultation services to requesting Red Lake Service Unit providers and various community and tribal groups and agencies.
  • Maintains professional development through consistent continuing education.

    • Travel may be required for training and/or other work related duties.

    • Relocation expenses are authorized and will be paid only if you are a current Federal Employee. You will be required to sign a one year service agreement. Failure to fulfill the one year service agreement may result in repayment of relocation expenses. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. At least a 6 month service agreement will be required.
