    The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VASLCHCS) is made up of compassionate employees committed to caring for Veterans whose sacrifices know no limit. Wahlen Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, and nine community clinics across Utah, Idaho, and Nevada.     Responsibilities

    Diagnostic and vascular ultrasound use high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medical diagnostic purposes. The sonographer must be competent in performing and analyzing of ultrasound images and patterns used for patient diagnosis and treatment. The sonographer is regarded as the expert source of the ultrasound and vascular imaging, and the interpreting radiologist relies heavily on the skills, knowledge, and abilities of the sonographers in providing a final interpretation. Within this specialization there is a diverse range of diagnostic medical sonography imaging sub-specialties. These include: 1) General Ultrasound Imaging (abdominal, small parts, gynecology and abdominal vascular) 2) Vascular Ultrasound (carotid and peripheral arteries, veins and graphs, DVT exams and ankle brachial indices). The sonographer operates independently and without direct supervision as they are responsible for the performance and coordination of all Ultrasound and Vascular Ultrasound examinations. The purpose of these exams is to obtain high quality diagnostic studies for proper diagnosis and treatment.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8am - 4:30pm. Rotating Shifts, rotating weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
