    The Amarillo VA Health Care System is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Medical Officer of the Day (MOD).  The MOD/NP's admit and discharge patients on inpatient wards. The MOD coverage is as follows M-F 11am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am; on weekends, Saturday/Sunday, they cover 7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am with around the clock coverage. On every 4th day the MOD's are on call to admit/discharge patients along with the attending physicians. MOD's provide back-up coverage in the Emergency Department for non-urgent ambulatory visits as needed. MOD's provide after-hour cross-coverage assessments for hospitalized patients, including those on medical/surgical wards, hospice, and the CLC (community living center) and other duties as assigned within his/her scope of practice. MOD's are also trained in performing peripheral lines, i.e. mid-lines and PICC lines for inpatients, as well as support an outpatient PICC line clinic.

    Work Schedule: Rotating Schedule with off duty hours.
    This position is a bargaining unit position.
