    This position is located in the Community Living Center of the VA Nebraska Western Iowa Health Care System.  The Nursing Assistant in this position functions as a member of the nursing team and assists the RN in the care of patients in acute, sub-acute, or chronic states of illness.  The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Perform aspects of nursing care which require understanding of moderately complex patient care treatment regimens and of physical and behavioral concepts essential for individualized care;
    • Works with geriatric and long term care patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse;
    • Assists patients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, oral care, shaving, general grooming, etc;
    • Assists in walking patients, positioning and turning of patients, caring for patients in restraints;
    • Preparing patients for meals, assist in the feeding of patients; providing water, ice, and snacks;
    • Orients patients to the unit;
    • Interacts with patients and families to help them feel comfortable and welcome.

    Work Schedule: The work schedule is 1:45PM - 10:15PM which includes alternating weekends from 1:45PM - 10:15PM
