VA Connecticut Healthcare System was officially formed in 1995. We serve veterans in Connecticut and southern New England. The West Haven facility is a tertiary care facility classified as a Clinical Referral Level I Facility. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology and a renowned research program. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary, acute, tertiary and long-term care in areas of medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics and extended care. Newington is an ambulatory care center that provides primary and specialty care. In addition to our main campuses, we operate six community-based primary care centers throughout the state.

The position is located in the Dermatology Service of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System (VACT) at the Newington Campus. The incumbent will provide Dermatology patient care to our patients. Perform evaluations, consultations, examinations, diagnosis, follow-up, medical record documentation/record-keeping and correspondence. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

· Provide comprehensive dermatology care to outpatients, including evaluations, consultations, examinations, diagnosis, follow-up, medical record documentation/record-keeping and correspondence.

· Participate in electronic consultations (e-consult) and telemedicine consultations in order to improve access to the quality of dermatology care through tele-dermatology and related technologies.

· Perform minor procedures such as biopsies, shave biopsies, simple excisions, cryotherapy and intraregional injections.

· Provide appropriate education for patient and family members regarding patients illness and/or management of care.

· Work collaboratively with the primary care provider staff and provide dermatology training as requested.

· Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Dermatology.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, Flexible Schedule
