OUR MISSION: To fulfill President Lincoln's promise – "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" – by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans. How would you like to become a part of a team providing compassionate care to Veterans?

BCVAHDS is a Joint Commission accredited, tertiary care teaching hospital located on 206 acres with approximately 30 buildings, serving 42,000 Veterans in 22 counties of the southwestern lower peninsula of Michigan.  The VA Medical Center was the 100th VA hospital built in the United States and is located adjacent to the Historic Fort Custer Military Base, now a National Guard Training Center, which trained and deployed thousands of troops during World War I and World War II.  In addition to our main facility in Battle Creek, Michigan, we offer services at our Wyoming Health Care Center, Wyoming, MI and three community based outpatient clinics in Muskegon, Benton Harbor, and Lansing.

Duties will include diagnosing, treating and managing patients according to standard, usual and acceptable or customary methods and techniques in the outpatient and inpatient settings.  The MH Hospitalist Physician is responsible for providing overall care, in a Mental Health setting to Veterans and associated services to patients of the Medical Center and will function as support to the hospital unit and Residential area as needed.

Duties

The incumbent is responsible for entering accurate, complete, timely progress notes for each episode of care in the patient's electronic record.  This is accomplished by utilizing the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).

The incumbent is responsible for the proper use, maintenance, and calibration of specialized equipment used in the assessment and care of patients.
