    Responsibilities

    VA St. Louis Medical Center is an academically affiliated 355 bed, two division, tertiary care hospital with a large outpatient department.  More than 100,000 radiologic examinations are performed yearly.   Our equipment includes 2 CT scanners (Siemens Definition Flash dual-source 128x2, and Siemens Definition Edge 128), Philips chest and general DR, Siemens general and multi-purpose DR fluoroscopy units, Phillips DR Interventional Suite, Siemens 1.5 and 3T MRI, Siemens SPECT/CT, and PET/CT 64 slice scanner, as well as GE and Philips US units. The imaging department is completely digital, including Philips PACS, Vital 3D advanced visualization system, Powerscribe voice recognition report transcription, and an integrated electronic medical record. Staff includes radiology nurses and technologists.  The VA St. Louis Medical Center is a teaching institution and has affiliations with the Saint Louis University and Washington University Schools of Medicine.  Diagnostic Imaging Service is affiliated with Saint Louis University School of Medicine; radiology residents rotate within the department.  The successful applicant will participate in the resident teaching program.  Performance appraisals will be conducted on a semi-annual basis.

    The incumbent will interpret routine and advanced neuroimaging studies and perform neuroimaging invasive procedures (including but not limited to, lumbar punctures, cervical, thoracic and lumbar myelograms), using the full technical capacity of MR, CT, US and fluoroscopy. Neuroradiology Fellowship training is required.  Completion of CAQ is preferred however CAQ-eligible candidates may be considered on an individual basis.  Interventional neuroangiography capabilities are not required.  

    The successful applicant will:

    • Assist in development and maintenance of neuroradiology protocols and procedures.
    • Perform the duties of a General Radiologist and fulfill on-call responsibilities of the department in rotation with other radiologists. 
    • Interpret general radiology examinations (including body CT, US, and general radiography) and will be required to independently cover imaging reading assignments other than Neuroradiology on an as-needed basis. 
    • Provide clinical consultation, peer review input, and participate in clinical conferences and quality assurance programs. 

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm
