    The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System is seeking for a permanent full-time Physician (Nuclear Medicine/Body Imaging Radiologist). This position is located in Radiology Service working under the direction of Chief of Radiology at the VA Salt Lake City Medical Center.

    The incumbent's main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Provides attending physician service for Nuclear Medicine, General Radiology, Body Imaging, and other areas as needed within the Radiology Service, in accordance with existing practices and programs.
    • Provides physician leadership and oversight for Nuclear Medicine programs within Radiology Service, including:
      i. Oversight of all regulatory, safety, and clinical processes related to use of nuclear materials and equipment.
      ii. Development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and protocols within Nuclear Medicine, as well as participation in site visits and inspections from institutional and governmental agencies.
    • Provides didactic and clinical education for resident and fellow trainees who rotate through Radiology service, in accordance with institutional training agreements.
    • Provides leadership and oversight of the Nuclear Medicine Area.
    • Meets NHPP and NRC qualifications as an authorized user.
    • Provides leadership oversight of NHPP, NRC, Joint Commission, and OIG inspections.
    • Administers nuclear agents and drugs as part of the performance and interpretation of nuclear medicine related procedures.
    • Maintains BLS and ACLS certification.
    • Develops protocols, policies, and procedures for Nuclear Medicine clinical studies.
    • Provides Nuclear Medicine scan interpretation and report generation, including all aspects of general Nuclear Medicine, as well as PET/CT and SPECT/CT examinations.
    • Provides radionuclide therapy services for I-131 and other therapeutic agents for which the institution is licensed, including planning, administration, and follow-up of patient care.
    • Supervises and interprets diagnostic examinations within Radiology including General Radiology; Fluoroscopy; CT and MRI of the chest, body, and extremities; Ultrasound of the internal organs, thyroid, scrotum, and other body parts.
    • Performs and interprets minor imaging guided procedures include including joint aspiration and injection, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
    • Participates in Quality Management activities such as peer reviews, image quality, equipment reviews and other activities as required.
    • Participate in institutional committees and boards as required.
    • Supervise Residents and Fellows in daily clinical work, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of studies. Provide trainee evaluations in accordance with institutional training agreements.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm. Rotating schedule and on-call may be required.
