Duties

Duties:  This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), St Louis Health Care Network (VISN 15), John Cochran VA Medical Center (VAMC), and Surgical Service.  The successful candidate serves as an Otolaryngologist.  He/she is to ensure the quality and timeliness of the services provided, customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with the standards of accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission and the Inspector General's Combined Assessment Program.  He/she is to ensure appropriate use of the available resources, and will be responsible for the state-of-the-art standards of care in Surgical Service.  He/she collaborates with other services as appropriate.  Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Performs a full range of complete otolaryngology-head and neck-related diagnostic, management, and illness-related counseling services to the veterans population served by the facility.
  • Assure the provision of high quality and safe patient care both in and outside of the operating room.
  • Provides a full range of diagnostic, therapeutic and minor (mostly bed-side or clinic) procedures for patients in the outpatient and inpatient.
  • Provides consultative services on patients referred from other sections of the medical center and other VA's, provides emergency ENT services as assigned.
  • Performs administrative components of patient care management such as: dictation of progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, and consultative services for inpatients and outpatients.
  • This position involves direct supervision and teaching of residents, as well as mid-level providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, Rotating on-call schedule
