Duties

The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is recruiting for five experienced Physician - Physiatrist. The candidate will have significant accomplishments in clinical practice, educational activities, research or administration which clearly distinguish the physician as having the highest professional qualifications.

In addition to providing direct patient care, incumbent also provides patient and family education, staff education, and consults and collaborates with other health care providers. Other duties include but are not limited to:

  • Clinical duties include performance of both routine and extensive or specialized psychiatric evaluation of patients both inpatient and outpatient settings. 
  • When engaged in diagnostic evaluation, incumbent independently conducts and documents clinical interviews. 
  • The incumbent develops a treatment plan and prescribes medications as clinically indicated, and within VA guidelines. 
  • The incumbent performs Compensation and Pension evaluations, when/if needed after required training is completed.
  • Supervision of psychiatry residents is required. 
  • The incumbent prescribes according to evidence based medicine, and within VA formulary restrictions. 
  • The incumbent works within a team and coordinates care with other disciplines.   
  • All clinical activities will be consistent with the incumbent's specific clinic privileges.

Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically Monday through Friday, administrative hours. Occasional phone call on off tours.  Additional information will be discussed during the interview process.
