    Officially established in October 2006, the Orlando VA Medical Center serves more than 105,000 Veterans in Central Florida and includes a 120-bed Community Living Center, two Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs/Domiciliaries (60-beds located at the Lake Nona Campus and 58-beds at the Lake Baldwin Campus), three large multi-specialty Satellite Outpatient Clinics in Orlando (Lake Baldwin campus), Viera and Daytona Beach, and four Community-Based Outpatient Clinics located in Clermont, Kissimmee, Orange City, and Tavares. The new medical center at Lake Nona is open for outpatient and inpatient services and will continue to expand inpatient beds, Emergency Services, and other specialty services throughout 2017. As VA's newest state-of-the-art health care facility, Orlando's 65-acre medical campus encompasses 134 acute inpatient beds, providing complex Medical/Surgical/Mental Health specialty care, advanced diagnostic services, and a large multispecialty outpatient clinic.

    Responsibilities

    Duties: The VA Multi-Specialty Outpatient Clinics, located in Florida, is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist who is preferably Board Certified or Board Eligible. Psychiatrist will evaluate, diagnose, treat, provide consultation and perform history and physical examinations to adult patients presenting with mental, behavioral, addictive or emotional disorders, utilizing all forms of psychological and social treatment including medications. Privileges include providing consultation with physicians in other fields regarding mental, behavioral or emotional disorders, pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, family therapy, behavior modification, consultation to the courts, and emergency psychiatry as well as the ordering of diagnostic, laboratory tests, and prescribe medications.

    Duties will include but are not limited to:

    • Treatment and professional duties as outlined in the incumbent's clinical privileges, as noted in our credentialing process; some of which are listed below:
    • Initial Psychiatric Evaluation of veterans to establish diagnosis and management plan, to develop a treatment plan including medication management, ordering of pertinent laboratory and radiology tests, and disposition of these patients.
    • Enter all diagnostic and treatment information, and related reports into the computerized patient record system (CPRS) on the day of the visit. Documentation of health care provided, including all physician orders, must satisfy Department of Veteran Affairs and local VAMC policies/procedures, as well as meet external accreditation agency requirements for safe delivery of patient care. The physician must possess computer skills to access the CPRS as utilized by the VAMC.
    • Prescribe medications for patients according to the established drug formulary at this facility. Variance form the formulary should occur only when clinically indicated and in compliance with the procedures established.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with rotating tours of duty as needed.
    The selectee may be required to work or travel between any of the locations within Corporate Orlando, including the Lake Nona campus. The selectee may also be required to work various shift on a permanent or temporary basis, based on patient care needs.
