How would you like to become a part of a team providing compassionate care to Veterans?
    VA Eastern Colorado HealthCare System (ECHCS) is complexity level 1a and provides a full range of state-of- the-art patient care services, and will soon be providing care in a new state-of-the-art hospital in Aurora, CO. ECHCS provides tertiary care and services to over 89,000 patients and is a major referral center for veterans living in Wyoming, Montana, Kansas, and New Mexico. ECHCS serves as an educational and research center, it is highly affiliated with medical and educational institutions. Health Care Services are provided at 15 different geographically dispersed locations incorporating nine Community Based Outpatient Clinics, two Primary Care Telehealth Outpatient Clinics, one local and one remote Community Living Center, Homeless Veteran's Domiciliary, a Community Referral and Resource Center, a Polytrauma and Blind Rehabilitation Center and VA presence on two DOD bases; Fort Carson and U.S. Air Force Academy covering a geographical area of over 10,000 square miles.     Responsibilities

    Duties include patient examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, management of psychiatric emergencies, effective verbal and written communication, effective work within a multidisciplinary health care team, and accurate and timely medical record documentation, including electronic medical records. The work is performed in an outpatient VA clinic and includes face to face and telemental health care. Duties include general adult psychiatric care; substance use disorders and dual diagnosis are common. Prescriptive authority for Buprenorphine is desired for this position. There is occasional after hours (telephone) call support of the VA Community Living Center in Pueblo. Occasional travel to other VA CBOCs or Denver VAMC is possible. The psychiatrist may also provide on-site psychiatric service to veterans at the Community Living Center in Pueblo and at Pionerr Nursing Home in Rocky Ford. Continuing medical education is required. An active, unrestricted medical license in any state is required. Board eligibility or certification in Psychiatry is preferred. The psychiatrist is responsible for ensuring personal qualities such as emotional stability, dependability, developing positive relationships with staff, family, and community, adhering to ethical standards, and attendance and participation in clinic meetings and peer review.

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
