    Responsibilities

    The Psychiatrist is assigned to the Mental Health - Psychiatry Service of the Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) and works at the VA Medical Center (VAMC), Denver, CO. The incumbent may be assigned to any Veterans Health Administration (VHA) programs and settings to include inpatient and outpatient medicine, surgery, mental health, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, geriatrics, Vet Centers, Homeless Veterans Drop-in Center, and the VHA National Center for Organizational Development. Considered as a Staff Psychiatrist, the incumbent's duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

    • Provides full range of psychiatry services to include diagnosing complex or unusual mental disorders and comprehensive intervention.
    • Provides consultation to professional staff of other specialty programs within Mental Health Service.
    • Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plans.
    • Functions independently as a member of the Denver VA Medical Center (VAMC) with full clinical privileges.
    • Assumes complete professional responsibility of his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation.
    • Provides outreach services to veterans and their families.
    • Assists the Program Director or Coordinator in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs.
    • Adheres to current operational policies and procedures.
    • Provides clinical supervision and instruction to psychiatry residents.
    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
