The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System is currently seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join the Mental Health Clinic in Lake City, FL. We are looking for a motivated, team-oriented provider for patient-centered care. Our facility is seeking individuals who posses good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.


The primary role for this position will focus on outpatient care of veterans as part of an integrated team of psychiatrists, mid-level practitioners, nurses, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers and clerks. The selectee may need to provide clinical services off tour and will be required to do so upon receipt of critical clinical messages. The selectee must be willing to be placed, detailed or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations if necessary. Selectee may be ask to provide Tele-Psychiatry services and consultation services to the medical hospital. The selectee reports to the Associate Chief, Psychiatry Service of Lake City or their designee.

  • Provides general adult psychiatric care, conducting diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy.
  • Provides direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate.
  • Serves a population which consists of male and female Veterans of all ages. Common diagnoses include anxiety disorders, Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementias, and mental disorder related to Traumatic Brain Injuries.
  • Establishes professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics, providing telephone and e-consult consultations as needed.
  • Cooperates with and participates in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review and with other performance improvement activities as directed.
  • Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to veterans in need of psychiatric services.
  • Documents observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes.
  • Provides a full range of psychiatric care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems.
  • Accounts for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards of assigned specialty.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 08:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
