    This position is located at the Martinsburg, WV VA Medical Center in VISN 5. The Martinsburg VA medical center is a Level 1C complexity facility providing care to our Nation's Veterans. The medical center provides comprehensive health care through primary care, inpatient medicine, surgery, psychiatric, domiciliary, and a long-term care unit. Martinsburg, WV VA Medical Center has seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in Cumberland, MD, Hagerstown, MD, Fort Detrick, MD, Harrisonburg, VA, Stephens City, VA, Petersburg, WV and Franklin WV.

    Responsibilities

    Martinsburg, WV VAMC is seeking a full-time permanent Physician to fill it's Psychiatry vacancy.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Perform initial clinical diagnostic examinations and formulate initial treatment plans.
    • Provide medication management.
    • Coordinate medical care for mental health clinic patients requiring primary care follow-up or specialty medical/surgical consultation.
    • Facilitate admissions to inpatient Mental Health unit; coordinating care with inpatient psychiatric, or Medical-Surgical physicians.
    • Provide clinical support, guidance and oversight for the Mental Health services of the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) mental health staff and liaison to primary care as needed and directed by Mental Health Service Management.
    • Serves on Medical Staff Committees, or represent the Mental Health Service on special Medical Center projects or initiatives as directed by Mental Health Service Management.
    • Perform compensation and pension exams/reviews.
    • Support a specialty clinic (e.g., clozaril. suboxone), perform evaluations and medication management in the substance abuse treatment program (including suboxone), serving in the PTSD program and participating in a research project.
    • Work collaboratively in a respectful fashion with nurses, social workers, clerks, mid-levels providers and other physicians.
    • Document care provided in the electronic medical record in a timely and complete fashion.
    • Complete clinical reminders within his/her area of clinical responsibility in the electronic medical record in a timely fashion.
    • Maintain training and waiver for provision of suboxone as well as other psychiatric interventions deemed necessary by MHS management.
    • Provide tele-health to patients as needed and directed by MHS management.
