Position Title: Physician-Psychiatrist

Work Schedule: Full Time

Service Location: Mental Health Service Line

Note 1:   A relocation incentive of up to 25% of annual salary may be paid to federal employees who physically relocate; a recruitment incentive of up to 25% of annual salary may be paid to newly appointed federal employees may be offered.

Note 2: Once appointed, If you meet all established criteria, you may be eligible to apply for partial student loan reimbursement under the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), subject to available funding.  You will be required to make contact with the Program Coordinator in Human Resources within 30 days of your appointment date to confirm your eligibility and initiate application paperwork.

Duties

Duties:  

The Psychiatrist will be a member of the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center Psychiatric Team.

·     US citizens and board certified with a full unrestricted medical license and would provide services to veteran patients.

·     The target patient population will include those veterans who have a high use of VA psychiatric inpatient resources or who have severe functional impairment or are inadequately served by conventional treatments, as well as veterans who are frequent users of emergency or crisis services; and who have a diagnosis of serious mental illness with or without secondary substance abuse.  

·     TVAMC services central and northern Alabama veterans with 73 psychiatric beds, integrated PTSD/addictions intensive outpatient programs, comprehensive outpatient services and co-occurring disorders with other serious mental illness.

·      Graduating psychiatry residents and board eligible psychiatrists may also apply.  

·      Fellowships or certification in addiction psychiatry or geriatrics are desired but not essential.
