Dayton VA Medical Center has multiple vacancies for Psychiatrists assigned to
the Mental Health Service. Services are provided in the Inpatient Psychiatry
Unit, residential facility, and outpatient psychiatry programs, including our
Community Based Outpatient Clinics. The incumbents are responsible for
completing psychiatric evaluations on new patients and following them for
management of their psychiatric disorders. Incumbents diagnose and treat a wide
variety of psychiatric disorders in Veterans of both sexes in a wide age
range. Incumbent must be well versed in the major treatment
modalities. Other duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Participation in various hospital committees, department and hospital
Conducting or assisting residents, medical students, mental health
trainees, nurse practitioners, and/or physician extenders in the evaluation and
treatment of the psychiatric patients.
Psychiatrists shall be responsible for inpatient and outpatient care, and
graduate and undergraduate medical education and scientific research as
appropriate. The incumbent conducts Compensation and Pension Evaluations and
shares on-call duties with other Psychiatrists.
