    The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VASLCHCS) is made up of compassionate employees committed to caring for Veterans whose sacrifices know no limit. We are part of the Rocky Mountain Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 19). Our health care system consists of the George E. Wahlen Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, and nine community clinics across Utah, Idaho, and Nevada. We provide health care to over 50,000 eligible Veterans across one of the largest geographical areas in VA.     THIS IS AN OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT: This position will remain Open Until Filled.     Responsibilities

    This position is located at the VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Ogden, Utah and it is under the Mental Health Service with the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VASLCHCS).

    The main duties and responsibilities of the incumbent include but are not limited to:

    • Responsible for the management, coordination, and provision of psychiatric treatment as the mental health consultant to primary care teams in a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.
    • Practices in a primary care/behavioral health integrated program.
    • Actively collaborates with primary care specialists and care manager providing mental health evaluations, clinician education, decision support, and evidence-based psychopharmacology.
    • Provides consultation and guidance to primary care specialists, role models effective mental health practice skills, teaches clinicians and patients about symptoms of mental illness, treatment, side-effects, compliance, work and social outcomes, and quality-of-life recovery-oriented care.
    • Administratively responsible for clinical program development as meeting ACGME and Joint Commission standards.
    • Provides brief intervention to special patient populations with highly complex health and/or mental health problems.
    • Conducts psychiatric evaluations, develops treatment plans, implements treatment, and provides clinical management for substance use disorders and a variety of complex comorbid mental health conditions including PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and other related conditions.
    • Actively collaborates with mental health specialists and care managers providing mental health evaluations, clinician education, and decision support, and evidence-based psychopharmacology.
    • Provides outpatient evaluations, attending notes, and curbside consultations and has knowledge of psychopharmacology and various psychotherapy techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy, insight-oriented methods, family therapy, relaxation training and mindfulness cognitive therapy.
    • Participates in quality of care and peer review activities, and documents clinical treatment and management in electronic medical records including H&P's, treatment plans, pain assessments, and discharge plans.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Will share on-call responsibilities. Also, possibility of working some evening hours on weekend or weekdays.
