    Officially established in October 2006, the Orlando VA Medical Center serves more than 105,000 Veterans in Central Florida and includes a 120-bed Community Living Center, two Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs/Domiciliaries (60-beds located at the Lake Nona Campus and 58-beds at the Lake Baldwin Campus), three large multi-specialty Satellite Outpatient Clinics in Orlando (Lake Baldwin campus), Viera and Daytona Beach, and four Community-Based Outpatient Clinics located in Clermont, Kissimmee, Orange City, and Tavares. The new medical center at Lake Nona is open for outpatient and inpatient services and will continue to expand inpatient beds, Emergency Services, and other specialty services throughout 2017. As VA's newest state-of-the-art health care facility, Orlando's 65-acre medical campus encompasses 134 acute inpatient beds, providing complex Medical/Surgical/Mental Health specialty care, advanced diagnostic services, and a large multispecialty outpatient clinic.

    Responsibilities

    The Orlando VAMC is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist who is preferably Board Certified or may be Board Eligible in Psychiatry. The candidate will be a physician who is highly skilled in the management of patient's mental health needs and evaluation and treatment of diverse range of mental disorders. She/he will carry an outpatient clinical workload along with assigned administrative and professional responsibilities; coordinate patient care, conduct history, physical exams and mental status exams on assigned patients; complete intake assessments and formulate diagnosis; and develop and present treatment plans to the multidisciplinary treatment team. Orders all necessary laboratory and radiological assessments; initiates consults, referrals, psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy as indicated; and maintains effective and up to date documentation of patient encounters. Preferred candidates will have excellent interpersonal and clinical skills for providing primary mental health care to veteran patients. These positions are expected to obtain/maintain buprenorphine credentialing and will participate in a large pool of rotating call.

    The candidate must be willing to work weekends and irregular work hours and may need to provide clinical services off tour and will be required to do so upon receiving critical clinical messages. The candidate must be willing to be placed, detailed or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary. All providers may be detailed to any site within the Orlando system.
    The selectee may be required to work or travel between any of the locations within Corporate Orlando.

    The selectee may also be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis, based on patient care needs
