The VA Saint Louis Health Care System seeks to hire a full-time outpatient Psychiatrist within the Mental Health Service with a primary duty location at the John Cochran (JC) Campus.  The Ideal candidate will provide traditional outpatient services to Veterans enrolled in the General Adult Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. In this position, the psychiatrist provides the full range of psychiatric services to a diverse outpatient population, many of which have significant co-morbid medical conditions.   The physician will need to be an effective communicator and team player who collaborates with multiple disciplines within Behavioral Health and the Medical/Surgical Specialties. There is an established psychiatric residency program with ample opportunities for training. 

Outpatient services gives the provider 60 minutes scheduled appointments with new intakes, 30 minutes follow-up appointments with a target of 6.5 to 7 hours of direct patient care per 8 hour work day.  Call is minimal and divided up among all Full Time staff members, resulting in approximately 3-4 weeks of call per year.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday,  8:00am - 4:30pm
