The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System is currently recruiting for four (4) psychiatrist vacancies: three (3) at the Gainesville (FL) VA Medical Center; one (1) at Lake City (FL) VA Medical Center. 

The primary role for these positions will focus on outpatient care of veterans as part of an integrated team of psychiatrists, mid-level practitioners, nurses, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers and clerks. The candidate may need to provide clinical services off tour and will be required to do so upon receipt of critical clinical messages. The candidates must be willing to be placed, detailed or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations if necessary. The incumbents will report to the Chief, Psychiatry Service or their designee.

The population served consists of male and female Veterans of all ages and common diagnoses include anxiety disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementias, and mental disorder related to Traumatic Brain Injuries.

The selectees will establish professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics, provide telephone and e-consult consultations as needed, and is expected to cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review and with other performance improvement activities as directed. Duties include, but are not limited to:

·    Providing general adult psychiatric care.

·    Conducting diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy.

·    Providing direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
