    The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System (VASLCHCS) is made up of compassionate employees committed to caring for Veterans whose sacrifices know no limit. We are part of the Rocky Mountain Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 19). Our health care system consists of the George E. Wahlen Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, and nine community clinics across Utah, Idaho, and Nevada.     Responsibilities

    The Infectious Disease Section Chief is an academic physician responsible for defining the mission, and overseeing the operation, of the Infectious Disease Section of the Medicine Service. The incumbent determines Section priorities and objectives and also facilitates accomplishment of the objectives in collaboration with the Chief of Medicine. The Section Chief oversees the job description, supervision, and evaluation of members of the Section. In addition to clinical matters, the Section Chief oversees the education, training, and research missions of the Section and the interaction of the Section with the affiliate (University of Utah) Infectious Disease Divisions. The Section Chief serves as a consultant and advisor on all matters pertaining to the Section. The position includes clinical, administrative, education, and research duties.
    The approximate time assigned in each area, as of the date of this statement, may change over time depending on the needs of the Service and the Medical Center. The time allotment is consistent with information contained in the physician mapping tool that is used to follow physician duties and productivity.
