Duties

The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System is recruiting for Geropsychiatrist Supervisor.  The incumbent directs the provision of geropsychiatric and geropsychological services by the Behavioral Health Service multidisciplinary clinical staff.

Supervisory duties include (but are not limited to): the delegation of authority to approve or disapprove leave, the evaluation and rating of supervisee's work performance, recommendations for awards, status changes, and disciplinary actions, and participation in the selection and separation of assigned staff.  The incumbent interviews and makes selections for non-supervisory positions in conjunction with the respective services.  S/he monitors the quality and quantity of subordinate staff' work.  S/he addresses grievances and serious employee complaints.  S/he reviews and takes appropriate action related to serious disciplinary issues and problems involving key subordinates as needed.  In addition, the incumbent consults with specialists on developmental and training needs of subordinates and assures that effective training programs are implemented for staff.  S/he collaborates with other Behavioral Health Service supervisors to negotiate, decide on and/or coordinate work related changes affecting other programs.  The incumbent also coordinates the internal student training program.

Work Schedule: Various (This position may required to work nights, weekends,holidays and extended shifts as necessary) Candidate will be required to provide on-call duties.
