    Summary

    OUR MISSION: To fulfill President Lincoln's promise – "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" – by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans.

    The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS), is comprised of two large Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers located in Temple and Waco, a large stand-alone multi-specialty outpatient clinic in Austin, four outpatient clinics located in Brownwood, Bryan/College Station, Cedar Park, and Palestine plus a rural outreach clinic in La Grange.

    CTVHCS has affiliation agreements with Texas A&M College of Medicine/Baylor-Scott and White Healthcare System, the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School, and the Texas Department of State Health Services. More than 250 Residents and Fellows are trained annually at CTHVCS, plus more than 200 medical students per year. Over 100 CTVHCS medical staff have faculty appointments with Texas A&M College of Medicine.

    Responsibilities

    This is a Non-Bargaining Unit Position.

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Some weekends and holidays maybe required.

    Position Description: Supervisory Physician (Psychiatry)

    Duties:

    This position is located in Waco, Texas. The incumbent will be assigned to Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine (MH&BM) Service. The incumbent has supervisory oversight of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants assigned to the Waco Campus of CTVHCS.  In line with Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine Service and Veteran Health Care Administration's vision, mission and strategic goals, the incumbent is expected to articulate clear a vision and mission, to set short term and long term strategic goals for supervisees.  The incumbent will provide oversight and critical leadership in the key areas of optimum resource allocation; implementation of effective orientation program, establishment of quality, productivity, and accountability standards; implementation of efficient quality improvement protocols; patient and staff satisfaction programs and effective communication of reward and recognition plan. The incumbent will serve as medical director of inpatient psychiatric unit, assuring implementation of Utilization Management Program, including patient flow and safe, effective management of patients admitted to acute psychiatry.

    This position is assigned 50% administration time.

    IF PATIENT NEEDS ARISE, THE INCUMBENT OF THE ABOVE POSITION MAY BE REASSIGNED WITHIN THE CENTRAL TEXAS VETERANS HEALTH CARE SYSTEM.
