Duties

The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is recruiting for a Part Time (Not to Exceed 20 hours per pay period), experiencedboard certified/board eligible  Urology Physician. The candidate will have significant accomplishments in clinical practice, educational activities, research or administration which clearly distinguish the physician as having the highest professional qualifications. This position is located in the Urology Section which is aligned under the Surgical/Specialty Care Service. 

  • Responsible to perform basic urologic procedures, such as cystoscopy, ultrasound guided prostate biopsy, transurethral resections, bladder biopsy, ureteral stent insertion, retrogrades, and orchiectomy. 
  • Clinic duties consist of evaluating and treating patients with urologic disorders. 
  • Responsible for seeing patients in consultation in both inpatient and outpatient settings. 
  • Other duties include responding to patient telephone calls, informing patients of test/lab results, renewing medication prescriptions, giving telephone or e-mail advice to other providers, and administrative duties, if any.
  • Responsible for entering accurate, complete, timely progress notes for each episode of care in the patient's electronic record. This is accomplished by utilizing the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). 
  • Adheres to safety, health, and infection control standards, regulations and work practices, as well as ergonomic standards.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions to supervisor and/or appropriate officials. 
  • Provide patient and family education, including informed consent.   
  • Expected to participate in performance improvement activities, disaster preparedness, administrative duties, and other responsibilities assigned by the Chief of Surgical/Specialty Care Service. 
  • Assignment to other areas within the service line, Medical Center or CBOC's may be required.

Work Schedule:  Primarily Monday-Friday, Days, Occasional call may be required.
