    The Augusta Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center is a two-division Medical Center that provides tertiary care in medicine, surgery, neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation medicine, and spinal cord injury.     Responsibilities

    Work Schedule: First Shift 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
    Location of position:  Uptown, Engineering Service

    Position Description Title/PD#:  Pipefitter-16249A

    As a Pipefitter in the Maintenance and Operations Section your services will include, but not limited to:

    ·         Responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and testing of plumbing fixtures, water supply lines, drain lines, steam generating and using equipment, steam distribution systems, condensate return systems, traps and condensate pump repairs, replacing bearing and seals.

    ·         Must have skills in the use of tools and equipment of the trade such as pipe threader, power hack saws, rotary hammer drill, pipe wrenches, jack hammers and small hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, etc.

    ·         Conducts inspections on sewage lift stations, steam traps, constant temperature hot water converters, eyewash, shower mixing valves, heating and chill water pumps.

    ·         Performs preliminary work such as estimating materials required and locating and marking areas where plumbing work is to be done. Installs and repairs main isolation valves; and prepares surfaces for cutting, welding or soldering.
