The Mountain Home VA healthcare System is seeking a Physician to be a part of the Home Based Primary Care team that will be servicing Morristown, Tennessee, and the surround community. Duties

The Mountain Home VA Healthcare system is seeking an immediate fill for a full-time Physician (Psychiatrist) to serve on our Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) team based in Morristown, TN.  The physician will report directly to the Medical Director, HBPC.  The psychiatrist is an integral team member working closely with the interdisciplinary HBPC team, performing home visits to provide in-home mental health evaluations, psychopharmacology, and psychiatric treatments including the management of severe and persistently mentally ill individuals who are receiving long term injectable agents.  The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing home visits to complete individualized mental health assessments and treatment planning with routine follow-up using standardized outcome measures for patients enrolled in the HBPC program;
  • Providing specialty modalities of care, mainly Geriatric Psychiatry, to the HBPC-enrolled patients;
  • Working in close collaboration with the HBPC psychologist in a team-based setting;
  • Participating in other clinical duties as assigned by the Medical Director, HBPC, and ACOS Extended Care;
  • Providing individual supervision to support and educate staff, program team, and assigned trainees; and,
  • Participating in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings of the HBPC program.

Work Schedule: This position has a primarily administrative-type tour of duty, from 7:45 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  However, there is flexibility in determining a tour of duty, including the potential for a compressed tour. 

***PLEASE NOTE:  This position may be staffed on a telework basis.  The selected candidate may work from a home office, but will be required to travel to the Morristown, Tennessee area on a near-daily basis.***

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Expenses are not authorized for this position.

Travel Required

  • 75% or Greater
  • This position will require near daily travel to patients' homes in the Morristown, Tennessee, and surrounding area.
