Coatesville is located in beautiful and historic Chester County, close to Philadelphia, Valley Forge, Lancaster and Wilmington.  This geographically diverse and scenic area of southeastern Pennsylvania is home to many famous historic sites and museums.  The nearby City of Philadelphia (30 miles) has Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and many other national treasures within its Independence National Historical Park.  Valley Forge and the Brandywine Battlefield are only 20 minutes from Coatesville.  Plentiful sporting, recreational, and leisure time opportunities exist in the local area.  Golf, fishing, boating, camping, running, biking, baseball, basketball, ice-skating, swimming, tennis, hiking, canoeing, skiing, and all major league professional sports can be found within easy driving distances.  Numerous high quality visitor attractions such as the Philadelphia Zoo, Longwood Gardens, Brandywine River Museum, and Philadelphia Museum of Art can also be enjoyed.

Duties

DUTIES:  The Coatesville VAMC is a 472-bed facility with psychiatry, primary care and nursing home units that serves as the tertiary center for the eastern half of Veteran's Integrated Service Network 4 (PA, NJ, DE) for veterans who have served our nation from World War I to the current global conflict. All of the units have PA's/Internists managing medical issues. The psychiatrist(s)will have a strong mix of both clinical and administrative skills, and should be familiar with a wide range of psychiatric programs. The ideal candidate(s) will have experience in providing care for homeless veteran patients who reside in a residential treatment program; acute and chronic psychiatric conditions, substance abuse disorders, geriatric psychiatry, and all forms of serious mental illnesses. The Psychiatrist(s) will work in concert with other clinical staff contributing to the achievement of quality of care, efficiency, and improvement in patient processing and satisfaction. The psychiatrist is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values and a commitment to excellence. Call by pager off campus typically limited to two (2) weekdays and one (1) weekend per month. Board Certification by the ABPN (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) is preferred.

The Coatesville VAMC has a teaching affiliation with Drexel University School of Medicine and the incumbent may be expected to teach third-year medical students.

TOUR OF DUTY:   Typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
