    The Dayton VA Medical Center has multiple vacancies for Psychiatrists assigned to Mental Health Service. Services are provided in the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit, residential facility, and outpatient psychiatry programs, including our Community Based Outpatient Clinics. Incumbents are responsible for completing psychiatric evaluations on new patients and following them for management of their psychiatric disorders. Other duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    ·        Diagnose and treat a wide variety of psychiatric disorders in Veterans of both sexes in a wide age range

    ·        Well versed in the major treatment modalities

    ·        Participates in various hospital committees, department and hospital in-service programs

    ·        Conducts or assists residents, medical students, mental health trainees, nurse practitioners, and/or physician extenders in the evaluation and treatment of the psychiatric patients

    ·        Responsible for inpatient and outpatient care, and graduate and undergraduate medical education and scientific research as appropriate

    ·        Conducts Compensation and Pension Evaluations

    ·        Provide backup to PA's on-call duties, but may provide on call backup as needed

    ·        Expected to be well versed in using evidence based treatments per practice guidelines for management of major psychiatric disorders
