    The William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI ( http://www.madison.va.gov/) is a 129 bed facility that provides tertiary medical, surgical, neurological, and psychiatric care, and a full range of outpatient services. This facility serves 130,000 Veterans who live in 15 counties in south-central Wisconsin and in five counties in northwestern Illinois. The Madison VAMC is also the specialty care referral center for an additional 57,000 Veterans who reside in the Tomah VAMC primary service area, is affiliated with the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, and is physically connected to the UWClinical Science Center which includes the UW Hospitals and Clinics, and supports a Vet Center in Madison.

    The incumbent for this position may be eligible to apply for the Education Debt Reduction Program, depending on the type of employment, schedule, amount/type of qualifying debt, and funding availability.     We have 3 full time openings for Psychiatrist in the following areas. Please indicate on the questionnaire which position(s) you wish to be considered for.

    Seeking a full-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our growing outpatient Geriatric Psychiatry clinic. This position will work with our geriatric psychiatry team, comprised of social workers, nurses, neuropsychologists and other physicians, to evaluate and treat mental health issues in older adults. Additionally, all geriatric psychiatrists in our facility work closely with our nationally recognized Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center staff.

    The Madison VAMC enjoys a strong affiliation with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the Madison VA is the primary training site for the UW Department of Psychiatry Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship. The psychiatrist may choose to teach medical students, residents and fellows and, if the physician has appropriate qualifications, they can receive a faculty appointment in the UW Department of Psychiatry. Research opportunities are also available for qualified applicants.     OUTPATIENT/Primary Care Mental Health Integration
    Seeking an enthusiastic, well-trained psychiatrist for a full-time position with our Primary Care- Mental Health Integration team at the Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. This position would be a clinical lead with duties divided between program development, patient care and educational programing, including running our nationally recognized inter-professional education program. Our PCMHI team is focused on team- based, evidence- driven care and we are at the forefront of using outcome measures to ensure the best care for our veterans. Educational and research opportunities are available for qualified applicants. If the physician has appropriate qualifications, they can receive a faculty appointment in the University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry.

    Seeking an energetic team leader to work as a full time Inpatient Psychiatrist in our 16 bed hospital facility. Responsibility for psychiatric inpatients is shared between two full-time, inpatient psychiatrists who are supported the unit's nurse manager, pharmacist, two full time social workers and multiple other staff including Occupational Therapists, psychologists, nurses and psychiatry residents. The Madison VAMC enjoys a strong affiliation with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and our inpatient MDs enjoy teaching medical students, residents and fellows. If the physician has appropriate qualifications, they may receive a faculty appointment in the UW Department of Psychiatry and research opportunities are also available for qualified applicants.
