    VA Sheridan Health Care System is part of VISN 19, the VA Rocky Mountain Network. The medical center has 185 beds: 10 acute medical, 10 acute psychiatry, 40 intermediate psychiatry, 85 domiciliary, and 40 nursing home care. We have Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located in Casper, Gillette, Powell, Riverton, Rock Springs, Afton, Worland, and Evanston. The veteran population we serve extends primarily to veterans from Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Utah and Idaho.

    Responsibilities

    Clinical Responsibilities

    The Psychiatrist performs specialized treatment of complex physical and/or mental illness. Treatment will include comprehensive assessments of the physical, psychiatric, emotional, and social needs of individuals with diagnosis including (but not limited to): psychosis, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depressions, bipolar disorders, and/or organic mental illnesses.

    · As a leader/member of the multidisciplinary team operating in Inpatient and outpatient environments..

    · Completes Compensation and Pension examinations.

    · Participates in psychiatric on call rotation.

    · Performs other clinical duties as assigned.

    Administrative Responsibilities

    · The Psychiatrist enters all veteran/family contacts in the electronic record using appropriate formats and templates. This information must be entered in a complete, confidential, and professional manner to insure information on the patient is shared with other VA staff. This information is to be reviewed on a regular basis.

    · The Psychiatrist establishes and maintains positive working relationships with employees, volunteers, consumers and stakeholders within the VA and outside community agencies; facilitates liaisons with other health care programs in order to effectively coordinate services.

    · The Psychiatrist will collaborate in the performance improvement processes and comply with performance measures as required by the VHA and for Mental Health Service. This work may include the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs for a team of treatment providers. The Psychiatrist will participate in activities and obtain feedback from clients and work to enhance services as needed.

    · The Psychiatrist will attend all meetings (weekly interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, Mental Health Staff meetings, assigned committee meetings, etc.) and perform other duties as required by Mental Health Service Line. This may include coverage responsibilities in the absence of other staff to ensure timely access and coordination of care.

    · The Psychiatrist must demonstrate professional behavior that conforms to VA regulations and policy, State and Federal laws, and ethical codes of appropriate professional social work accrediting organizations.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm
