Duties

The VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC) seeks Board Eligible/Board Certified Adult, Geriatric and Addiction Psychiatrists to join our Outpatient Behavioral Health Integrated Program (BHIP), Opioid Use Disorder Medication-Assisted Treatment Program and Mental Health Rehabilitation and Residential Treatment Program (MHRRTP). The VA SORCC seeks academically-minded clinicians who are passionate about practicing evidence-based psychiatry within a collaborative team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, clinical pharmacy specialists and mental health nurses.  Leadership opportunities and program development in substance abuse treatment are available for applicants with specialized Addiction Psychiatry training. Teaching opportunities in residency, medical student and nurse practitioner student education are also available. All Outpatient: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30pm; 90-minute new evaluations, 30-minute follow-ups, 7-10 patients daily; 25% of clinical time is protected for documentation and administrative duties; Optional home telephone call. Each week of call earns the next Friday off. There is no ER or inpatient psychiatry unit, hence on-call responsibilities are minimal.

The VA SORCC is located in White City, OR and serves over 40,000 veterans from Southern Oregon and Northern California. The facility offers extensive outpatient services, including primary care, Behavioral Health Integrated Program (BHIP), Opioid Use Disorder Medication Assisted Treatment, and specialty-care mental health services.  The facility is also home to a 260-bed Mental Health Rehabilitation and Residential Treatment Program (MHRRTP) serving veterans with co-occurring mental illness and substance-use disorders. The Grants Pass and Klamath Falls Community Based Outpatient Clinics are part of the VA SORCC team, offering primary care, general mental health care, and telehealth.

Facility Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Subject to change based on the needs of the program. The option to work alternative schedules to accommodate  evenings and weekends may be considered as the outpatient program expands to increase clinic access to veterans.

Recruitment/Relocation incentives may be authorized.

This position may be eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) subject to program funding.
