The Oklahoma City VA Health Care System is looking for a Staff Psychologist to serve in Ambulatory Mental Health Clinic (AMHC). The incumbent is assigned to Psychology Service, but will work closely with Psychiatry Service and other center staff.

The incumbent will provide both inpatient and outpatient consults; manages all electronic consults initiated throughout the Health Care System; facilitates the orientation class, the treatment programs and the maintenance group; consults with Primary Care providers regarding best clinical practices and treatment options; and provides education to patients, family members and providers.

Other Duties include:

Assist other staff and makes appropriate treatment recommendations to them.

When Students are assigned, supervises counseling activities of psychology interns, serves as consultant or supervisor to psychiatry residents, medical students, nurses, occupational therapists and social workers in their activities with patients.

Evaluates and makes disposition of patients to treatment programs in the VAHCS, as well as referral to community programs and vocational placement. Interviews and evaluates patients presenting for admission. Serves as a consultant to other staff in evaluating and assisting veterans with complex vocational problems.

Exercises courtesy in all verbal and written interactions with staff, patients and others.

Pursues avenues to enhance personal growth and development as well as strives to identify innovations for enhancing the functions of the individual office, the executive offices, and the medical center.

Assists with other activities as assigned by Health Care System management.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (although irregular tours and weekends may be required at times)
