Assignment.  This is the full performance level for staff psychologists. At this level, psychologists are licensed to practice independently in the provision of psychological services, consulting with peers and supervisors as appropriate. Psychologists diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological or neuropsychological assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Among the modalities provided are individual, family, and group psychotherapies and other interventions such as behavioral health and community interventions. Psychologists consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Staff psychologists may be involved in program evaluation, teaching, training, and research activities.

Clinical Responsibilities: (85% of time)

·         Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, primarily but not limited to  the area of neuropsychological assessment.

·         Performs evaluations for patients with suspected or documented neurobehavioral deficits (including but not limited to assessment for TBI and ADHD.)

·         Actively collaborates with referring clinicians in defining the referral question; planning individually tailored assessments; providing interpretive feedback of assessment results and; helping the referring provider plan meaningful interventions based on test results

  • Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions, including evidence based therapies as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned.

Team Leader Administrative Responsibilities: (10% of time)

The Team leader is responsible for program oversight, which include the operation and management of key clinical, training, or administrative activities. Responsibilities include development and active implementation of program, policies, and procedures; oversight of administrative and programmatic resources. Further, responsibilities include monitoring of outcomes using a data-driven quality assurance process for a program that delivers specialized, complex, highly professional services that are important components of the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, and significantly affect the health care provided to veterans. 

Academic/Teaching/Training: (5% of time)

1.      Will be eligible to secure and maintain  a clinical/instructional track appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Michigan

2.      Provides clinical supervision to various disciplines and levels of training, as directed. Provides teaching and mentorship to Neuropsychology trainees, peers, and patients, as directed.

3.      Provides lectures at seminars as assigned and qualified.

4.      Serves on Health System Committees,  Workgroups and other committees, as directed.

Tour of duty: Usually tour is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may include evening hours and weekends based on clinical need.
